While Jessica Corley was getting the nursery ready for their baby boy, the first-time mom researched what she needed to include on their baby registry. One item she chose: a nursery ceiling fan.
The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published a study showing that using a ceiling fan while the babies slept reduced the risk of SIDS by 72 percent.
“When you’re doing your research and registering, trying to learn what is absolutely essential in keeping your baby alive and well. I read that having moving air from a ceiling fan helps reduce the risk of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) by 72 percent. That’s huge, so that puts having the cutest clothes or matching nursery pillow or a dresser, all those things that seem like essentials, a ceiling fan felt like it was a part of that,” said Jessica.
Along with safety, Jessica wanted a nursery ceiling fan that would complete the look of her modern farmhouse nursery design. Her husband’s family owns a cattle farm, so a farmhouse nursery style was the perfect fit! She chose Hunter’s Wingate rustic ceiling fan with light in Noble Bronze.
“The Hunter ceiling fan is great. It definitely fits with the modern farmhouse theme, the wood blades, the black metal fixture, the light is super soft,” she says.
The Noble Bronze finish on the fan complements the dark crib frame and other dark accents in the room. The rustic wood ceiling fan blades give a warm, inviting look to the room and goes with the other rustic wood design elements in the nursery. The finishing touches included woodland stuffed animal toys and four framed art prints with animals (one to represent each of their favorite sports teams as well as their hometown team).
Along with the beautiful design and the peace of mind she gets from the nursery ceiling fan, Jessica loves the included handheld remote.
“For any mom, the most wonderful thing is the remote because when you have a sleeping baby or are nursing, to get up and move across the room could lead to catastrophe with a screaming child. The remote is absolutely key,” she says.
The Wingate nursery ceiling fan with remote allows parents to change the ceiling fan speed, the dimmable ceiling fan light, and the ceiling fan direction without disrupting feeding time or a sleeping baby.
